How to sell on Lazada Philippines in 2026

Lazada is no longer the default marketplace here — it is the third one. Set up with eyes open: who it still works for, what it really costs, and how to register without inheriting the old guides’ mistakes.

Is Lazada still worth selling on in the Philippines? Yes — but as a second or third channel, not your main one. Lazada has fallen behind Shopee and TikTok Shop and, by Cube’s FY2025 estimates, now holds roughly 16% of the three platforms’ combined GMV, down from about 28% a year earlier. What it still has is the highest average order value of the three, around ₱416. That makes it a real fit for higher-ticket and branded sellers, and a poor fit if your whole plan was “Lazada or nothing”.

If you read an older guide — including the one this page replaces — you were probably told Lazada had a 59% share, 34 million monthly visits, and a flat “2% transaction fee”. All three are out of date. The market moved, and the fee was never a single 2% charge. Here is the current picture, sourced, with the disputed numbers flagged rather than smoothed over.

The platform shift, FY2025

#3 Lazada’s rank in PH ecommerce — behind Shopee (#1) and TikTok Shop (#2), per Cube
−34% Lazada PH GMV change in FY2025, while the overall market grew ~15% (Cube estimate)
16% Lazada share of top-three GMV, down from ~28% the prior year (Cube estimate)
₱416 Lazada PH average order value — highest of the three platforms (Cube)

Lazada is now the #3 platform — set up knowing that

The honest starting point in 2026 is that demand on Lazada PH is shrinking, not growing. According to Cube’s estimates, Lazada’s Philippine GMV contracted about 34% in FY2025 even as the combined top-three market grew roughly 15%. Its share of that top-three pie fell from around 28% to 16%, and TikTok Shop overtook it for second place in Q4 2025. Shopee leads at about 55%, TikTok Shop sits near 29%, and Lazada trails at 16%.

Treat those precise figures with care. They come from a single source — Cube — and we could not independently corroborate the exact magnitudes. Momentum Works, the reference report for Southeast Asian ecommerce, describes Lazada regionally as stabilising rather than collapsing, but it does not publish country-level platform splits, so the two cannot be cross-checked. The direction is well supported: Lazada is now third in the Philippines and losing share to TikTok Shop. The exact percentages are Cube estimates, not settled fact, and we present them as such.

What this means for you is a strategy change, not an exit. Lazada works best as a complementary channel — a place to capture branded, higher-consideration purchases alongside a Shopee and TikTok Shop presence — and it earns that place on order value. At roughly ₱416 average order value, the highest of the three, Lazada skews less towards impulse buys and more towards considered ones. If you sell higher-ticket or branded goods, that is the audience you want. If you sell ₱99 impulse items, Shopee and TikTok Shop are where the volume is.

Setup, end to end

Registering a Lazada seller account in six steps

  1. 01

    Open Seller Center

Go to sellercenter.lazada.com.ph and click “Become a Seller” at the bottom of the sign-in prompt to create an account.

  2. 02

    Choose your seller type

Pick your lane: Marketplace/Local (individuals and small businesses), LazMall (registered brands and authorised distributors), or LazGlobal (sellers based abroad).

  3. 03

    Fill in and sign up

Enter account type, the country your shop is based in, mobile number, password, email and shop name. You must be 18+ and pass identity verification.

  4. 04

    Complete your profile

Activate from the confirmation email, then finish three required pages — Business Information, Bank Account and Warehouse Address. These gate getting paid and shipping.

  5. 05

    Register with the BIR

File Form 1901 (sole prop/self-employed) or 1903 (corporation/partnership). The ₱500 Annual Registration Fee was abolished in 2024. File a Sworn Declaration if remittances are ≤₱500,000/yr.

  6. 06

    List your first products

Under Products, Add Products: complete Basic Information, Description, Price and Stock, and Service and Delivery. Pick the exact category — commission is category-driven.

The documents you actually need

What you must produce depends entirely on which lane you join, and this is where most people over-prepare or under-prepare. The dividing line is whether you sell as an individual or as a registered brand.

To start as a Marketplace (Local) seller, you do not strictly need business registration to open the shop. A valid government ID and a personal bank account for settlement are enough to get listed. To join LazMall, the bar is much higher: DTI or SEC registration, a BIR Certificate of Registration, a company bank account, and brand proof — a trademark certificate or a brand authorisation letter — plus an official website or social presence. LazGlobal is for sellers based outside the Philippines (China, Korea, Japan and others); individuals are not eligible, and it is irrelevant if you are a Philippine-based seller selling to Philippine buyers.

One caveat the platform rules do not cover: the BIR does. Whatever lane you pick on Lazada, the Bureau of Internal Revenue expects you to register as a business once you are selling to make a profit. Opening as an unregistered individual on Marketplace is fine for Lazada’s onboarding, but it does not exempt you from the tax obligations covered further down.

Marketplace vs LazMall vs LazGlobal

Lowest cost · easiest start

Marketplace (Local)

For individuals and small businesses. No business registration strictly required to open the shop, lowest commission of the three, settle to a personal bank account. The right starting point for most sellers testing the channel.

Higher cost · higher trust

LazMall

For brand owners and authorised distributors. Needs DTI/SEC registration, BIR CoR, a company bank account and trademark or authorisation proof. You get the LazMall badge, a dedicated tab, exclusive campaigns and extended returns — at 7.72%–11.08% commission. Miss service standards three months running and you can be removed.

Cross-border only

LazGlobal

For sellers based abroad — China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and others — shipping into the region. Individuals are not eligible. Not relevant if you are a Philippine seller selling to Philippine buyers.

Lazada Philippines fees in 2026, decoded

The single biggest error in the old guides — including this page’s predecessor — is the line “the only fee is a 2% transaction fee”. That is wrong on two counts. There is no flat 2%, and there is more than one fee. Lazada charges a two-part stack: a category commission that varies by what you sell, plus a separate payment fee of about 2.24%.

The payment fee is the figure most often mislabelled. Multiple Philippine sources (Bilyonaryo, BigSeller PH, SiteGiant PH) put it at 2.24%, charged on the net amount after your own seller promotions, plus customer-paid shipping. Whether that 2.24% is VAT-inclusive is not settled — BigSeller’s 2026 page explicitly declines to confirm and tells sellers to check their invoices — so treat the VAT treatment as “verify on your own statement”, not as fact.

Commission is the part where sources genuinely disagree, and you should know that going in. For regular Marketplace categories, Philippine press (Bilyonaryo, Dec 2024) reports 6.12%–8.74%, with digital goods at 3.36%; seller-tool blogs (BigSeller, SiteGiant) repeat a much lower 1%–5%. We cannot reconcile the two because Lazada’s own PH Seller Center commission pages sit behind a login wall we could not read. The one thing all sources agree on is that the legacy claim of “Marketplace = 0% commission” no longer holds. LazMall commission is firmer: Bilyonaryo and BigSeller both report a hike to 7.72%–11.08% effective 6 January 2025.

* Marketplace commission is disputed: 6.12%–8.74% per Bilyonaryo; 1%–5% per BigSeller/SiteGiant. Confirm your live category rate in a logged-in Seller Center session before you price on it. VAT treatment of the 2.24% payment fee is not confirmed — check your own invoices.

Worked example: sell a ₱1,000 item in a LazMall category at the top of the band. Commission at 11.08% is ₱110.80; the payment fee at 2.24% on the net is about ₱22.40. Your platform take-rate on that order is roughly ₱133, or about 13.3% before shipping and tax. The same item on Marketplace at, say, 7% commission lands nearer ₱92 all-in. That gap is the price of the LazMall badge — worth it for trust-sensitive branded goods, hard to justify for thin-margin commodities.

One more warning, because it trips up almost everyone researching this online: the headline figures you will find are often from the wrong country. The widely-quoted “up to 22.5% commission” is Malaysia (The Star, Nov 2025, plus 8% SST), and the tidy “5%/6.5% capped at S$30–S$60” tables are Singapore. Neither applies to the Philippines. If a rate is quoted in S$ or mentions SST, it is not your number.

Tax, the 2024 reforms

What changed for sellers — and what to file

Gone since Jan 2024

The ₱500 registration fee is abolished

The BIR Annual Registration Fee was scrapped on 22 January 2024 under the Ease of Paying Taxes Act (RA 11976 / RMC 14-2024). Any guide still telling you to pay it — or renew it yearly — is out of date.

Withheld automatically

1% platform withholding tax

Since 11 January 2024, platforms withhold 1% on one-half of your gross remittances (about 0.5% effective). It appears as a deduction on your payouts. File a notarised Sworn Declaration if your annual remittances are ≤₱500,000 to be exempt. Source: Grant Thornton PH, RR 16-2023.

Shipping and fulfilment: who carries the parcel

Lazada gives you several ways to get an order to a buyer, and the choice feeds straight into your seller metrics, so it is not just an ops detail. Lazada Logistics splits into LEL Express, which handles fulfilment and storage, and LEX Express, the last-mile courier. Fulfilment by Lazada (FBL) goes a step further: Lazada stores, packs and ships your stock, which speeds up delivery and tends to lift listing visibility. If you would rather keep control, you can use approved third-party couriers or self-fulfil via drop-off and pickup.

Whichever you pick, tie it to the number that decides your standing: ship-on-time rate. The top-seller and LazMall bar is above 95%, and the fastest way to fall off it is a fulfilment method you cannot keep up with during a campaign spike. If you are doing volume and cannot guarantee dispatch speed yourself, FBL buys you the on-time rate and the visibility in one move.

Listing optimisation and the top-seller ladder

Two things drive whether your listings get seen and whether you climb the seller tiers. The first is listing quality: complete every attribute, choose the exact category — remember commission is category-driven, so the category is both a ranking and a cost decision — use high-resolution images, write keyword-rich titles, and join free-shipping campaigns, which Lazada rewards in ranking. Watch the Content Score before you submit.

The second is service consistency. Lazada’s Preferred Seller programme grades you on sales capability, service capability (including chat response rate), product quality and free-shipping participation. The LazMall existing-seller bar is specific and unforgiving: ship-on-time above 95%, seller rating at or above 70%, cancellation under 2%, in-app message response at or above 85%, at least six months active and at least 30 orders a month. Approval can take up to 15 business days, and LazMall sellers who miss the standards for three consecutive months can be removed. The full criteria sit on our LazMall seller requirements and KPI page.

The verdict

Higher AOV Best fit: branded and higher-ticket sellers, not ₱99 impulse commerce
2nd / 3rd channel Run Lazada alongside Shopee and TikTok Shop, not instead of them
LazMall = trust Pay the higher commission only when the badge wins you the sale

So: is Lazada worth it, and for whom?

It is worth it if you sell branded or considered-purchase goods and you want a second or third channel that reaches a higher-spending buyer. It is worth it if you can hold the service KPIs, because the sellers who win on Lazada are the ones who ship on time and answer chats, not the ones who simply list. It is not worth it as your only channel in 2026 — the demand has moved to Shopee and TikTok Shop, and building your whole plan on the platform losing share is a bet against the data.

The practical move is to treat Lazada as one shelf in a wider presence. List your higher-margin SKUs here, lean on the higher average order value, and decide on LazMall only when the trust badge clearly pays for the extra commission. If you would rather a team set this up and run the operations behind it, that is the work we do. FAQ

Common questions

How much does it cost to sell on Lazada Philippines in 2026?

Sign-up is free with no monthly fee. On each sale you pay a category commission — roughly 6.12%–8.74% for regular Marketplace categories and 7.72%–11.08% for LazMall, depending on category — plus a payment fee of about 2.24%. Marketplace commission figures are disputed between sources, so confirm your live rates in Seller Center. Sources: Bilyonaryo, BigSeller PH, 2024–2026.

Do I need a registered business to sell on Lazada Philippines?

Not to start as a Marketplace/Local seller — an individual can open a shop with personal ID and a personal bank account. LazMall, however, requires business registration (DTI or SEC), a BIR Certificate of Registration, a company bank account and brand proof. Separately, the BIR expects you to register as a business once you sell to make a profit, using Form 1901 (sole prop) or Form 1903 (corporation).

What is the difference between Lazada Marketplace and LazMall?

Marketplace (Local) is for individuals and small businesses at the lowest cost and no strict registration requirement to start. LazMall is for brand owners and authorised distributors; it needs business registration, a trademark or authorisation letter and an official online presence, and it grants the LazMall badge, a dedicated tab, exclusive campaigns and extended returns — at higher commission. LazMall sellers who miss service standards for three consecutive months can be removed.

Is Lazada still worth selling on in the Philippines?

Yes, but as a complementary channel rather than your only one. By FY2025 Lazada had slipped to third place behind Shopee and TikTok Shop, with about 16% of top-three GMV (Cube estimates). Its edge is the highest average order value of the three, around ₱416, which favours higher-ticket and branded sellers over impulse commerce.

How do I become a top-rated or LazMall seller on Lazada PH?

Hit the service KPIs consistently: ship-on-time above 95%, seller rating at or above 70%, cancellation under 2%, in-app message response at or above 85%, at least six months active and at least 30 orders a month. Complete your listings fully, use the correct category and high-res images, and join free-shipping campaigns. LazMall approval can take up to 15 business days. Source: LOKAL, lazmall-requirements.
